Arn't those sweet little reading nooks just to die for? A reason in itself to start reading more if you ask me.

mustard loving.

Growing up, I just really disliked any form of yellow. Not sure why. I was all into the "pretty colors" and yellow was just not voted to be one of them. But now, I just love it. I adore a house with just little pops of mustard yellows here and there. I especially love the color accompanied by shades of blue.
What do you guys think?

DIY fabric chandelier.

Okay, a little later than I planned, but heres that fabric chandelier tutorial I promised.

What you'll need :
- embroidery hoops - one big, one small
- fabric cut into strips (I used different sorts of white/lacey fabrics)
- embroidery thread (twine or yarn might work too)
 - hot glue gun.

step 1 - Paint embroidery hoops white or whatever main color your chandelier is.
step 2 - Okay, this parts a bit tricky -- but definitely doable. Divide the embroidery hoops into three equal sections. Connect the two embroidery hoops using embroidery thread - leaving about 5-6 inches in-between the two. You might need a ruler or something to make it perfect and even. I, however, did not. Which is why mine is slightly uneven. oh well! you win some you lose some.
step 3 - Hot glue the strips of fabric all the way around the top embroidery hoop.
step 4 - Creating a slight curve in the top half of your fabric, glue the backside of each piece onto smaller embroidery hoop.
step 5 - Similar to step 3, glue strips of fabric on top of existing fabric -- this time leaving them hang as they are without gluing them to the smaller hoop. (I used a very sheer fabric for my outside layer, but that was just according to my taste)

I did not get to do this, but you can wire a light into it to make it illuminate and shine. Or it can hang as is!

Hope everyone had a wonderful tuesday!

my valentine.

I sure hope everyone had an amazing valentines - whether your dating, married or single. Its just a fun day to celebrate the ones you love! Today I just HAD to share what my sweet valentine did for me. It was definitely blog worthy and it couldn't have been more surprised.

So, all I knew is that we were going out - didn't know where to or what we were doing. The previous day Dave was working hard in his grandpa's basement doing who knows what for me for valentines. Just as we were about to walk out to door, Dave said "oh! I totally forgot about what I got you in the basement." So, he made me close my eyes and led me to a beautiful "dave-made" fort with dinner inside for two. I had no idea we'd be spending valentines in the basement - which turned out to be ten times more amazing than any fancy restaurant I could imagine. After we had our dinner, we flipped the fort into a comfy movie watching space and watched Roman Holiday.
perfect valentines date, indeed.

Branches and Light.

A couple weeks ago I had the amazing opportunity to contribute to Nancy Ray and Caroline Joy's photography workshop, Branches and Light. They had an amazing styled shoot for their attendees and I was honored to have my handwriting apart of it.

Big thanks to Southern Weddings for the feature today!

horses.

Dave and I had a great day visiting his parents horses for awhile today. After seeing the movie war horse, I have a new love and appreciation for horses. Though their size still intimidates me, I absolutely adore hanging out with them. Dave is just a natural with them -- what a little cowboy he is! As for me, I'm still learning how to make clicking noises to call them over and not to run in fear when they come charging my way.
